I had my first dress fitting on Friday, thankfully all fitting well with just a few adjustments to be made…the wedding suddenly feels very real now!

This Friday, Sharon, Livvy and the girls have organized a ‘Hen Afternoon’ for me and I am looking forward to seeing what they have in store for me. Fingers crossed for some good weather! I’m sure there will be plenty of pictures to follow.

It was extremely hard work in Cambodia we traveled a lot and worked in some terrible conditions, the hardest spent in the prison. We traveled from Phnom Penhto Siem Reap and other surrounding provinces; we visited schools, prisons and orphanages. We even managed to squeeze in a trip to the Killing Fields and finally Angkor Wat. We treated so many people all of who were so nice; I fell in love with the country and actually can’t wait to go back. The people of Cambodia are amazing!! Listening to their stories about the Khmer Rouge Regime makes you realise that we take so much for granted. It made me look at my world very differently to India.

The volunteering trip to Cambodia was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done, I was worried that I was going to be very home sick, but I wasn’t home sick at all, (well I did have my moments!) I will definitely be returning to Cambodia at some point with my husband to do some more volunteering work, most likely something this time a bit different to dentistry.

I have also commenced a healthy eating regime for 2013 and increased my weekly exercise.  A simple run first thing in the morning can make you feel so refreshed and ready to face the day ahead; unfortunately due to the poor weather I haven’t been able to run outside, so I’ve had to settle for the treadmill. Roll on the summer for brighter/longer days, walks on the beach and of course the obligatory BBQ!

I relocated from Wiltshire to just outside Redruth and I am having fun trying to find my way around!  My dog Lucy (the laziest collie I know) is totally loving exploring all the beaches and I hope to start finding some great coastal walks too (Lucy will not know what has hit her) and hopefully we will enjoy a lovely Cornish summer this year.

I look forward to introducing myself to all my new patients at Pure Dental as the year progresses.

I have been a dental nurse for 4 years now and love every aspect of my job. I am in the process of studying for my radiography qualification and I am due to sit my exam in June 2013.  After radiography I plan to go on to study for my certificate in Oral Health Education.

In my spare time I enjoy horse riding, spending time with my own horse at the stables, swimming, walking on the beach and watching movies.

Tania & Sharon have been going to the local gym regularly over the past couple of months so I intend to join them soon as I am sure they will work me into shape.

We are all excitedly awaiting news on the arrival of Laura’s baby boy. We are making daily calls to her to see how she is doing as there is as little as 2 weeks left now before her due date.

There’s been a lot of new faces joining the practice since Christmas, it’s been a busy but exciting time and we really like all of our new team members. No doubt they will be adding their own blogs soon.

I’ve made my new years resolutions and so far I have stuck to them: eat better, drink less, exercise more, be more organised and make more time for relaxation (the last one being the easiest one to keep).  I have tried to bring my enthusiastic attitude to the team at Pure and I think I have been successful.  The New Year has welcomed a number of new staff members who have brought their own zest for providing outstanding care to our team which has helped me and everyone else to stay focussed and go the extra mile to ensure that the team delivers a WOW experience to our patients.

Our dental hygiene facility now incorporates the diverse skills of 3 dedicated hygienists: Paula Winkler (whom many of you will remember), Jessie Greenway and Nicola Shepherd all of whom are now ably assisted by our lovely new dental nurse Jenna Dixon.  After a considerable investment in the hygiene facility we now boast a gorgeous “new look” surgery, an excellent hygiene team and the latest in hygiene therapy equipment to provide our patients with the best care yet. It has certainly created a real buzz about the place and our patients all seem really pleased with the results.

In addition, Jeremy has decided that he wants to begin focussing solely on dental implantology and the 6 Month Smiles cosmetic brace system and to establish a better work/life balance and so he has enlisted the support of both our existing dentist Jason Smithson and Andre Faro Leite who joined the team at the beginning of January. Jason & Andre are now taking care of the vast majority of our patients’ routine care and maintenance which has meant that it is now even quicker for patients to get appointments with us.  Although there’s no need to panic, Jeremy isn’t going anywhere just yet J

There are further plans in the pipeline for Pure Dental and there is a great feeling about the place, so for us, January has been a really exciting time and we are all looking forward to continuing to provide beautiful smiles throughout 2013!

What welcomes our patients when they come here is a real sense of team spirit and camaraderie.  Not only do we genuinely care about our patients but we really care about each other and a harmonious team equals an enjoyable experience for our patients.

We love our practice and we love what we do.  We see the difference that our care has made to the way our patients feel about themselves; they can smile with confidence and eat without difficulty or pain and we’ve made it possible.  It’s such a rewarding place to work.

I watch my team working together and it feels me with a tremendous sense of pride.  I can see their commitment to their job, to the practice, to the patients and to each other. I see the support they give each other and I feel very lucky to work with these people.  They are all constantly striving to increase their skills set, working harder, training harder and initiating ideas to continually improve the way we work and the patient experience. At the risk of sounding cliché, I really look forward to coming to work.

So much welcomes our patients when they walk through our doors; a warm welcome, a comfortable, clean and relaxing environment, first class customer service and dental care and a team that is genuinely pleased to see you.  I really believe that our team can change the way that even the most anxious patient feels about visiting the dentist.

I feel that if you are lucky enough to have a fantastic team then it is important to take the time to tell them how valued they are and the difference that each and every one of them makes to the practice.  It doesn’t take much to do but it is sure to mean the world to them,  So thank you team Pure, you’re awesome!

We visited the island of Spinalonga, which was used in the early 1900’s as a leper colony. The island was the subject of Victoria Hislop’s book “The Island” which I read before visiting Crete.  We enjoyed the trip to Spinalonga so much that we went twice in a week!  The boat trip to the island was fantastic, we got to swim in the crystal clear water and eat freshly caught seafood.  I would highly recommend it visiting Crete, we loved it!

Back on home turf and there are some exciting things in the pipeline for Pure Dental.  We are currently planning a bit of a re-furbishment which will really freshen and modernise things. We have been working closely with a lovely lady called Helen Blake from Absolute Design who has come up with some wonderful ideas and we cant wait to see things take shape.  All being well the New Year will bring in a New Pure!
