Denture Stabilisation

Although dentures can provide you with a cost-efficient solution to tooth loss, they can quite often become annoying and become an everyday inconvenience. It’s not uncommon for dentures to become loose, which can cause frustration and unwanted embarrassment in social situations. Perhaps what is worse, is that they require you to change your lifestyle, including removing certain foods from your diet which can have negative effects on your digestion and your overall health. Although a short-term solution can be achieved using excessive amounts of adhesive, this will leave an unpleasant taste in your mouth and isn’t a sustainable option. Using implants to secure your denture, is a long-term solution which allows you to live your life without compromise.

How does denture stabilisation work?

With the placement of dental implants, dentures can then be clipped on to the implants which holds them firmly in place, so they look and feel like natural teeth. At Pure Dental Health we use this treatment to help people of all ages, enabling them to enjoy whatever food they fancy and feel confident in smiling again. We’ve adopted the latest technology of key-hole surgery, so you needn’t worry about the gum being cut, stitches or any postoperative discomfort.

If you’ve fallen out of love with your dentures completely, then you may want to consider having fixed teeth once again. At Pure Dental Health our team are able to provide you with fixed teeth in a day so you can say goodbye to those dentures forever.

FAQ’s

Implants are small titanium posts, which replace the root of the natural tooth and are used to anchor replacement teeth like crowns, bridges or even full mouth restorations and dentures.

For many people their permanence, durability, and natural appearance and feel mean greatly increased self-esteem and confidence.  Also improved speech, comfort and easier eating. Dental implants don’t only enhance the appearance of your smile.  In the case of those with many teeth missing, the whole face is lifted due to improved muscle tone and support of the lips and cheeks.

Not everyone is suitable, but the majority of people are.  They are not just for Hollywood stars and often more affordable than most people think.

Planning your implant treatment is the most crucial stage, as we need to ensure that the smile we are going to create, is the smile that you are looking for. Planning stages take around three to five weeks, and includes a ‘case presentation’ where we discuss every aspect of your treatment at length before we begin. You are welcome to bring a family member or friend along should you wish. Implant treatment can vary from four to six months up to about two years for complex cases – but remember, the benefits of dental implants will last for decades.

This is obviously a major concern for patients, particularly where the front teeth are involved. Proper planning allows us to provide temporary replacement of missing or extracted teeth, either by provisional bridges that are fixed in place or by a removable denture.

Dental implants require the same care as normal teeth.  If good oral hygiene is maintained, with regular brushing, flossing and dental visits then implants can last a lifetime.
