Mark's experience
Mark graduated from Bristol University in 2000. In 2005 he became one of the first practitioners in the UK of ClearStep, the invisible brace, and he continues to provide clear aligner braces. In 2006 he completed a three-year diploma in postgraduate dental studies, which had special interests in oral surgery, sedation and prosthetics.
In 2008 he became a full member of the BACD, the British Association of Cosmetic Dentists. This means Mark must uphold the highest standard of cosmetic dentistry skills to maintain his membership. Also, in 2008, he finished the General Implant Forum and Training (GIFT) implant course run by Warwick University.
In 2009 he began his studies into occlusion (the way we bite) with the Dawson clinic from the United States. Mark continued advancing his skills in occlusion at the European Dawson Clinic. He has attended advanced level occlusion courses enabling him to treat complex dental issues like tooth wear and TMJ dysfunction. He works closely with his wife Stella who is a spinal specialist physiotherapist in the treatment of complex facial pain.
In 2018 Mark finished his studies in a European Diploma in Implant Dentistry. This is a practical assessment carried out over 3 years by multiple European Universities. The course was run by world renowned dentists giving the broadest base of knowledge possible.
He is also a member of ITI, International Team for Implantology, which sets the protocols for Implant dentistry worldwide, in addition Mark is a member of the EAO, European Association of Osseo-integration: this is a nonbiased association that looks at all research worldwide related to implant dentistry. Mark uses several implant systems and has done many advanced courses in Implantology, this has enabled him to provide complex procedures such as ‘Teeth in a day’, bone grafting, sinus lifts and gum grafting, that other clinics cannot offer.
Mark has placed and restored over 3000 implants making him one of the most experienced implantologists in the UK. He has lectured locally in Cornwall every year since 2016 at the Pure Charity CPD day helping to raise money for local charities. He has also lectured nationally on implantology, tooth wear, and occlusion, enabling other clinicians to provide better care to their patients. Mark has also lectured internationally on peri-implantitis (a condition that affects implants). This is an area Mark is passionate about and he has developed techniques that help to preserve the life of implants. He is one of the most experienced clinicians in the UK at treating this condition.
In 2024 Mark set up a new business Complete Practice Development with Complete Dentistry. To help other dental practices deliver better services and care for their patients focused around occlusion. Mark works closely with practice owners and their team so that they are able to grow with a core focus on clinical care.
