How we help anxious patients

At Pure Dental, we understand that dental anxiety and dental phobia can make a visit to the dentist feel overwhelming. Some people with dental phobia avoid going to the dentist entirely and refuse dental procedures even when they are desperately needed. That’s why we begin each patient’s journey with a personal, relaxed conversation. Our welcoming team takes time to get to know you, genuinely listens to your concerns, and discusses any fears or anxieties you may have. This approach helps build real trust, laying the groundwork for positive dental visits.

Most patients find that being heard by a compassionate, non-judgmental dental practice team already helps alleviate their anxiety. We are proud of our reputation in Cornwall for creating a supportive environment where you never feel rushed or pressured – every decision and step is taken at your own pace.

For people with dental anxiety who require extra reassurance, we offer guidance to help overcome dental phobia and something unique: sedation administered by our specially trained dentists. This advanced, safe sedation service allows you to relax completely during any procedure, so even patients with strong dental phobia can access the care they need without fear.

From your first conversation with us to the completion of your treatment, our priority is your comfort and confidence. No matter your level of dental anxiety disorder, we tailor every aspect of our care to make your dental journey as gentle, calm, and stress-free as possible.

Mark Durnall

Dentist

Mark moved to Cornwall with his wife Stella in January 2008 so that they could raise their young family in one of the most beautiful areas of the country. He cycled from Lands’ End to John O’Groats in 2009 for MNDA and has not been on a bike since! You are more likely to find him on a golf course or spending time with his family. Mark has always said that Dentistry is his hobby, he loves his job! He is passionate about dentistry and hopes that this shows in his work. He is continually pushing himself to advance his skills and keep up with the latest technologies, as you can read below. Mark believes that trust is the cornerstone to building relationships with his clients and he uses digital imagery, 3D CBCT scans and bespoke models to help build this trust quickly. He invests heavily into his practice with the latest technology so that patients can benefit from the best care possible. This ranges from the latest 3D CBCT scanner, and intra-oral scanner to providing up-to date sterilisation equipment. Mark also takes pride in creating a relaxed environment for his patients care, which is evident at Pure.
