Adult Orthodontics FAQ's

Properly aligned teeth are essential for good oral health. Problems can affect your speech, smile, and your ability to chew.
If you’re worried about showing your braces, you can opt for invisible ones. Other that that, adults can choose any type, from Invisalign to traditional braces.
No, there is not an age limit. While many children and teens get orthodontic treatment, adults may need to get it as well.
The average time of treatment will take around 6-24 months. Some adults will require less time because they only have mild misalignment issues.
They may affect your speech as you get used to them, but after that, it won’t be noticeable.
Yes, you can still get braces if you have a crown. It doesn’t affect it in any way.
Yes, you can still have adult braces with dental implants. However, since implants have titanium fused to the jaw, they will not move with the braces, but it will still work with your other teeth.
Yes, you’ll have to wear them 24 hours a day, unless you’re using Invisalign or other clear aligners.
What kind of Adult braces are there?
Many different factors need to be considered before deciding what type of brace is right for you.
Never before have there been so many ways to have your teeth straightened at Pure. Making the right decision is important.
Fixed appliances are the most common and most sophisticated type. They are a reliable solution with proven results, however, some adult patients prefer more discrete options. Here are the main types of appliances we offer:
- Fixed metal braces have always been a popular option for teeth alignment. They are highly effective and yield predictable results.
- Clear aligners are sets of clear, thin, plastic-like trays that are custom formed to fit your mouth, perhaps the highest profile orthodontic appliance, with widespread advertising in magazines and television.
- Invisalign are removable clear aligners very much like retainers which you can take off to eat, brush, or floss your teeth.
- Ceramic braces are fixed braces too, but they use tooth-coloured ceramic wires and brackets instead of metal, making them virtually unnoticeable.
Please note that your teeth and gums need to be healthy before orthodontic treatment is started and need to be maintained in a healthy state throughout treatment.
